Statement of Educational Effectiveness

At GETS Theological Seminary, our mission is to equip faithful servant-leaders with sound biblical knowledge, spiritual maturity, and ministry skills for the advancement of God’s Kingdom—particularly among the global Chinese diaspora. Educational effectiveness is measured not only by academic excellence but also by the holistic formation of students in their faith, character, and ministry readiness.

Commitment to Student Learning

GETS is committed to fostering an environment where theological education integrates biblical truth, spiritual growth, and practical ministry application. Our programs emphasize exegetical competence, theological reflection, pastoral care, leadership development, and mission engagement. is committed to fostering an environment where theological education integrates biblical truth, spiritual growth, and practical ministry application. Assessment of Educational Effectiveness

GETS employs a layered assessment system that includes both direct and indirect measures. These processes help faculty evaluate learning, monitor student progress, and strengthen program design. Assessment instruments include:

  • Course-embedded assessments aligned with program learning outcomes.
  • Capstone evaluations, including the MACS Research Paper and the DMin Doctoral Ministry Project.
  • Entering and Graduating Student Questionnaires, providing longitudinal data on academic and spiritual growth.
  • Alumni and employer feedback assessing ministry readiness and contextual effectiveness.
  • Faculty evaluation and annual program review conducted by faculty and academic leadership to ensure curricular coherence and mission alignment.

Student Success and Outcomes

Graduation Rates

MACS Graduation Rates (5-Year Cohort Method)

  •        15.2% (17 graduates of 112 students from the 2020–2021 and 2021–2022 cohorts).
  • Later cohorts (2022–2025) remain within the five-year window; additional graduates will raise the completion rate as they finish the program.

DMin Graduation Rate (7-Year Cohort Tracking)

  • 22.6% (7 graduates of 31 students from the 2017–2018 and 2019–2020 cohorts).
  •        Later cohorts remain inside the 7-year window; graduation rates are expected to rise as more students finish.

Placement / Ministry Engagement Rates

Because GETS primarily serves active Chinese church leaders worldwide, the majority of students are already serving in ministry before, during, and after their studies. Placement is defined as ministry engagement consistent with program goals.

MACS Placement Rate

  • 100% of graduates from the MACS cohorts (2020–2021, 2021–2022) are serving in ministry roles.
  • Ministry contexts include preaching, teaching, pastoral care, worship, evangelism, small-group leadership, and church training programs.

DMin Placement Rate

  • 100% of DMin graduates continue to serve in pastoral leadership, preaching ministries, Christian education, or denominational/church network leadership.

Retention Rates

Retention reflects students who remain enrolled or graduate.

MACS average retention rate (2020–2025 cohorts): 75.8%
Cohort retention ranges: 63% → 95%

DMin retention shows similarly strong continuation, with most students progressing steadily while balancing full-time ministry responsibilities.

Holistic Formation

Beyond quantitative measures, GETS places strong emphasis on the spiritual, personal, and vocational formation of students. Students consistently testify to:

  • Deepened biblical convictions and theological clarity
  • Renewed spiritual vitality and disciplined spiritual practices
  • Greater confidence in preaching, teaching, and pastoral care
  • Enhanced cultural and contextual awareness for Chinese-diaspora ministry
  • Strengthened commitment to global mission and local church service

Faculty, pastoral mentors, and student services staff collaborate to support students’ emotional, spiritual, and ministerial growth.

Ongoing Improvement

GETS Theological Seminary maintains a culture of reflection, accountability, and continuous improvement. Assessment data informs curriculum revision, faculty development, and student support structures. The Seminary remains committed to stewarding its mission with excellence so that every graduate may be “a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the Master, and prepared for every good work” (2 Tim. 2:21).
